He started to teach guitar seriously back in 2002 just after returning from Japan.
Originally from Wolverhampton, Robby has been gigging around the midlands in recent years as lead guitarist with 'The Ritz Bros' and 'The Starlites'. He was a prominent guitarist in several successful Birmingham bands back in the 70s and 80s. Most notably, he was in Valhalla, Beau Flyer and Video. The latter band had a single in the lower reaches of the charts and was on the same record label as Annie Lennox and The Tourists.
Robby then spent many years in Australia and Japan, where he had a lot of success with The Robby Real Band, making several TV appearances and touring Japan. He had two CDs released in Japan; ‘Hot Rod’ and ‘Rockin with Ricky’. One of Robby’s songs from this album was used on the soundtrack of the Hollywood film ‘The 51st State’ starring Samuel L Jackson and Robert Carlyle. The song, ‘Nightime Boy’ is a crowd favorite in The Ritz Bros’ set.
I use a small purpose built studio in my house which although not huge, is perfectly adequate for one or two students learning together. It is well equipped with everything required for tuition - guitars, amps, software, books and so forth.
